‘Charles and Ray Eames are among the most important American designers of this century. They are best known for their groundbreaking contributions to architecture, furniture design (e.g., the Eames Chair), industrial design and manufacturing, and the photographic arts.'(Eames Office)

Charles and Ray Eames were designers who were highly aware of the needs of their post -war American age. They followed the definitive moments of the countries history in their design process. They were innovative with material use, and soon drew attention upon a global scale.

In many ways, they worked as though curators, collecting factors from their contemporary context and arranging them in a way to form innovative and socially relevant design, that earned the Eames’ their place as key figures in shaping the latter half of 20th Century America.
